How can fruits affect diabetes
Diabetic patients usually have high sugar content in their blood stream this condition is known as hyperglycemia. Most atimes patients diagnosed of diabetes are advised to avoid meals which high carbohydrate and sugar contents to help control their blood sugar level,they are also advices to eat food with high fibre content instead.
Moreover,some of the fruits we eat has high sugar contents and low fibre might not be best for diabetic patients.
Four fruits and vegetables that are healthy for diabetic patients
1. Cucumber : cucumber is a vegetable that contains over 90% water and a low sugar content of about 1.7g per 100g. Its low sugar content and high water content makes it recommendable to diabetic patients.
2. Pear : The pear is a common fruit from the same plant group with apples, they originate from same family known as rosaceae . the pear contains relatively high amount of sugar of about 17% but has fibre content of about 6% this makes it recommendable but should be eaten at a quite a low quantity.
3. Oranges : Oranges are very common fruits that could be found virtually anywhere around the globe. It has sugar content of about 12% sugar and about 9-10% dietary fibre.
